OFFICE OF THE POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER
SAFER TOGETHER TEAM NEWSLETTER
COUNTY WIDE

As we navigate through an exciting year…
we are keen to keep you informed on what we have been working on over the last quarter to and keep you updated on some engagements we have coming up.

Marc Jones has been re-elected as Police and Crime commissioner for Lincolnshire. It will be his third term in office and he will serve for four years. He is currently working on setting the NEW Police and Crime Plan priorities, building on the success from the last four years.

We as the Safer Together Team have taken this renewed energy in our stride, and have been busy attending a variety of meetings, ensuring we are capturing the voice of you; Lincolnshire’s residents. All of us have been working closely with our local Neighbourhood Policing Team’s, attending engagements to help improve visibility, and make sure the communities they serve understand what is being done to keep them safe.

Thank you to the community groups who have invited us along to their events, it is always a pleasure to meet you, and listen to your listen to your feedback and experiences. If you have any events you wish to invite us to, or issues you want to raise email us using safertogetherteam@lincs.police.uk

LINCOLNSHIRE
Strong Voices

Over the last 3 months the Lincolnshire Strong Voices programme for the coming year has been developed. This programme is for 11-21 year olds across Lincolnshire and is designed to hear their views and opinions on issues and concerns that effect their lives on a local scale. The programme has been running for almost 2 years and the members have enjoyed learning, interacting with, and having their voices heard by key partners.

We are currently recruiting for more members to join the programme as we want it to grow and become even more influential. If you’d like to know more or direct young people to join, please fill out the form: https://forms.office.com/e/pt67XkscLq

Community safety and prevention in partnership

Kimberley Pickett – East Lindsey

This last quarter I have been actively seeking out new communities to engage with, and developing strong partnerships with local service providers such as Wellbeing Lincs, who have welcomed me along to numerous Sensory Drop ins to engage with their attendees. I have also worked closely with Lincs Digital, one engagement we attended, in Holton Le Clay, Lincs Digital presented on digital skills and remaining safe online. This was a fantastic session where I was able to hand out 50 Fraud Packs to the residents, and we were also joined virtually by BBC presenter Peter Levy, who provided his first hand account on the impact of Fraud. Alan Osborne - Boston and South Holland

The better weather brought along more opportunities for engagement such as the Spalding Flower Festival, the launch of the new RoadHOG bus in Boston, a dementia engagement also in Boston. There I was able to talk to people about the Herbert protocol and the dementia wristbands. And of course, the Lincolnshire Show where we had some good suggestions from the public when we consulted them on their priority areas for the PCC’s forthcoming Police and Crime Plan. We have always worked closely with the voluntary sector, and the voluntary sector conference in Sleaford was well attended, this provided an opportunity to network and promote the role of the PCC. We continue to support veterans across the county and as a result I attended the latest Armed Forces Covenant Board on behalf of the PCC and the Veterans and Families meetings. One of the highlights during this period was spending the day at Boston Endeavour academy with the young people there. Otherwise, it has been business as usual working with the Neighbourhood Policing Teams, the Community Alcohol Partnerships, and my monthly meeting with the residents of Boston central who are able to highlight issues important to them in the local area. Stephanie Marwood – Lincoln and West Lindsey

The Office attended the Lincolnshire Show and were joined by Victim Lincs, The Environmental Crime Partnership and others. We had a Safer Together Trail involving the Force and Fire and Rescue which 300 people of all ages to participated in. We also took the opportunity to ask residents of Lincolnshire their opinions on road safety, Policing that works, listening and responding, and information on keeping safe. We had lots of responses which will assist PCC Marc Jones in developing the new Police and Crime Plan. Over the coming months there is an abundance of events taking place in Lincoln and across West Lindsey, most of which the Safer Together Team will have a presence at. At these events we will raise awareness of local force initiatives, how to keep safe from fraud and scams and the support available for victims of crime. If you are holding an event and would like us to attend, please contact us.
