Neighbourhood Policing Support Volunteer

Spalding Police Station

Purpose 

To support the Neighbourhood Policing Team in arranging effective and suitable community engagements as per the requirements under the forces Neighbourhood Policing strategy.

This role is designed to be a supportive role to neighbourhood teams who will retain overall responsibility for engagements on their respective beats.

What you will be doing

Roles and tasks may vary, but will include:

Researching existing community engagements already in place and reaching out to facilitators to look at the viability of Police being present.

Working with partners to explore enhancing existing engagements and explore whether Police could be, where appropriate, part of these.

Supporting teams in identifying areas of high footfall and explore where Police engagements could be set up to maximise the number of people being captured at events.

Identifying hard to reach/seldom heard, minority and/or vulnerable communities and look towards supporting the local team in arranging engagements that are bespoke to said communities and address their specific needs.

Assisting the neighbourhood team in advertising engagements in advance in a way that will maximise attendance by the local community e.g. through social media.

Carrying out miscellaneous administrative support around the arranging of and setting up of engagements. This could include but is not limited to booking the EDDIE van, sourcing suitable literature, booking/arranging suitable locations for engagements, arranging support from specialist departments such as media, EDI, and crime prevention.

Skills, experience, and qualities needed

Good communication skills

Experience of community engagements and partnership work

Ability to utilise IT systems, specifically Microsoft based products

Familiar with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, etc…

Able to work as part of a team

Location and times

The role will be based from Spalding Police Station.

Times can vary but will likely be during weekday officer hours Monday to Friday. A minimum of 4 hours a week is requested.

Other information

Expenses incurred as a result of the role will be paid at the relevant rate

Volunteers must be over 18

The role requires a security check (vetting)

Volunteers are asked to sign an agreement to maintain confidentiality, as you may have access to sensitive material
