Message sent on behalf of Inspector Matt Dickinson. In South Holland we can find that acts of anti-social behaviour (ASB) are not always reported at the time they occur. This can result in incidents going unattended and perpetrators not being dealt with as expeditiously as we would like.
There are many impacts to not reporting said behaviours including;
The team being unaware of incidents/issues taking place and being unable to respond. The Police being unable to effectively plan patrols in response to community needs. Police being unable to provide an evidence base to request additional resources both internally and via partner agencies. Police being unable to evidence a requirement for additional funding from a variety of sources. Police being unable to effectively share information with partner agencies to assist in signposting those who require additional help/support.
Not all reported incidents will need a direct response but there are short and long term implications in Police not being able to build that evidence base of where antisocial behaviour takes place.
In order to address some of these concerns and plan a means to advise and encourage on correct reporting methods the starting point is to understand how the wider public feel about reporting, their knowledge on how to report and their feelings on what the consequences of reporting are.
To help with this please can I ask you complete the below survey. Results are confidential and will help shape the future work of your local teams. Thank you in advance.
