Incidents of Note
Theft from motor vehicles: In the last 48 hours, we have received two reports of thefts from motor vehicles in Gainsborough, with transit vans specifically targeted. Offenders focused on removing front bumpers and headlights. A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference, theft from a shop, attempted theft from a shop and fraud by false representation. He has since been released on conditional police bail. We are urging residents to remain vigilant and report anything they may see to be suspicious. Always dial 999 if a crime is in progress. Fatal House Fire: A man in his 20s has sadly died following a house fire on Ropery Road, Gainsborough, in the early hours of Sunday 8 March. Emergency services attended at around 3.20am, but the 27‑year‑old was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed. Police are working with Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue to establish the cause of the fire, and officers remain at the scene while enquiries continue. Fatal Road Traffic Collision: A woman in her 20s has sadly died following a collision on Bonsall Lane near Blyton on 7 March. The green Ford Fusion she was travelling in overturned near the level crossing. No other vehicles were involved. A 43‑year‑old man from the Gainsborough area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Recovered stolen vehicle: The stolen Fiat 500, previously circulated via Lincs Alert, has been located in Hemswell Cliff, Gainsborough. Thank you to everyone who shared the appeal and helped spread the word.
Cannabis Grow: A cannabis grow has been uncovered at a property on Church Street, Gainsborough, following a report of suspicious activity early yesterday morning (9 March). Six men have been arrested and released under investigation. Officers are appealing for CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the Church Street area or wider Gainsborough routes towards the A1 around the time of the incident.
