We reported earlier that we had started an investigation after the body of a 55-year-old man was found on Clifton Street, Lincoln, on Sunday morning, the 12 April.
Following a post mortem earlier today, Monday 13 April, we can now confirm the victim, a 55-year-old man, has died from natural causes.
Three people arrested in connection with the investigation have been released with no further action being taken.
A file will be submitted to the coroner. If you are wondering why this was reported as a murder originally: There is a duty to investigate tragic incidents such as these without delay and a public appeal for information is vital to that investigation. It is paramount that we are open and transparent about policing activity.
There are a number of actions that need to be fast tracked and a witness appeal is one of those actions. Information received may determine the direction of an investigation.
Likewise we have a duty to report when people have been arrested as this makes proceedings active and determines what can be reported.
Most importantly society has a responsibility to the family. Their loved one has died in a public place and the cause of the death was unknown .
The PM was completed at the first opportunity and we have updated both the family and the community when we can. |
