I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Fraud, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. We have received reports of possible rogue traders operating in the local area.
Residents are asked to remain vigilant, particularly when approached by individuals offering unsolicited work or services at your home, such as gardening, roofing, driveway work or property repairs. We understand that individuals may be carrying out leaflet drops to advertise their services and give the appearance of being an established, legitimate business. Please remember that receiving a leaflet does not necessarily mean the trader is genuine or trustworthy.
- Don't feel pressured into agreeing to work or handing over money.
- Take time to consider any offer and get a second opinion or alternative quote.
- Ask for identification and check who you are dealing with.
- If you are unsure, do not allow anyone in your home.
- Look out for elderly, vulnerable or isolated neighbours who may be targeted.
Police are aware of the reports and are keeping an eye out for suspicious activity.
If you have concerns, or believe you may have been targeted by a rogue trader, please report it to the police or Trading Standards.
